WATER'S POLLUTION'S EFFECT ON THE ENVIRONMENT
Water pollution takes a great toll on humanity and the environment. Here are some examples on how water pollution affects the environment:
- Death of Marine Life: Water pollution kills marine lives. For example Dolphins, crabs, birds etc. wash ashore on beaches, killed by the many causes of water pollution.
- Possible Extinction of Marine Species: Due to humanities practices, many marine lives are endangered. For example the bottlenose dolphins, orca, Steller’s sea eagle and many more are on the verge of extinction.
- Interruption of Food Chains: When lead is put into, small animals eat it. Then big fish eat small fish and the chain goes on and on. Therefore, water pollution does interrupt food chains.
- Sicknesses/ Diseases: Soon far down the lines, humans are affected by water pollution. A major cause of sicknesses/diseases is when people eat seafood that has been infected. This mostly occurs in developing countries, where there are breakouts of Cholera and other diseases.
- Possible Extinction: Many believe that because of humanity’s practices, bodies of water (river, lakes oceans etc.) will become extinct for future generations.
